I have created a website for selling q-snap huggies, so I can keep the fabric samples located on one site! www.qsnaphuggies.com went on line last night for the first time and I just need to add the shopping cart yet! Thanks to everyone who has purchased huggies in the past and welcome to all future users!!
And so, another lesson in cross stitching has been learned by Chris, your favorite cowgirl from Hanna, Indiana........ NEVER ask the groom (David) what the date of his wedding his!!!!!!!! I saw the bride (Nicole) this week and said “you have to be getting excited about the wedding!” and she said, “yes, it was 2 months to go on the 15th! I said WOW…wonderful, I’m so excited for you guys! Then, as I walked away, I said to myself….15th, 15th, 15th DAVID told me the 14th!!!!!!!!!!! Of course, I had the sampler done and framed and even a bow on it for gifting……OMGOSH!!!!!! I called my frame shop and she said bring it in, we can take it apart and you can fix it and I’ll put it back together for you….so, that’s what I did today….I stood there in the middle of the frame shop and frogged out that 14 and changed it to 15…..LOL…now, if I had just looked at the calendar, I would have seen that the 14th was a Thursday, but NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO…I believed the groom! HAHAHAHA…lessons learned!
Here is the "finished" project before I repaired it!
Huggies have been selling like crazy and I have added on a few special request fabrics! Get them now while they are hot!!
Recently I sent in a few photos of some of my Joan Elliott completions to Cross Stitch Collection magazine and was so surprised (and tickled pink) to see them featured in my new issue when it arrived today!!

Hello fellow stitchers! I've added two new fabrics for our dog lovers and for those that are ordering for Birthday Gifts!
Happy Stitching and Happy Easter!
Signing off from the Lazy w Ranch, Chris the Cowgirl from Hanna, Indiana!
Recently I mentioned that I was making Q-Snaps Huggies for sale on my blog, and someone asked "what are q-snaps". I'll try and explain and show you what they are. Q-Snaps = Embroidery Hoop, only different. Q-Snaps are frames made out of round plastic tubes, over which fit half-circular “snaps” of PVC-like plastic. The inside of the snaps have ridges that are supposed to grip the fabric.
-Snaps can be square or rectangular. My favorite is a combination of an 11" and an 8", making a pretty handy 8" x 11" frame. The inside of the frame is made up of corner pieces (somewhat rounded) that attach to straight pieces, to make up the square.

On each of the four sides, a long, tight-fitting, half-circlular “cuff” of plastic, ridged on the inside, snaps into place. These are the “snaps.” You can see in the photo above, the four snaps alongside the plastic frame.
To put the snaps on the frame, you just push them on. They hug the frame. In the photo above, the snap is not pushed all the way on yet – so you can see the ridges, and how they fit onto the frame.
You mount your fabric on the Q-Snap frame about the same way you do a hoop – laying the inside frame part down first, placing your fabric over it, and then snapping the outside half-circle plastic snaps over the fabric. Then, you “roll” the snaps outwards, to establish the amount of tension you want on your fabric.
Here, a cotton kitchen towel is mounted on the Q-Snap frame, and rolled the snaps outwards to make the fabric flush with the top of the frame and to tighten the tension on the fabric.
That’s a corner up close…
I make "huggies" to fit around the outside portion of the frame and they serve two purposes. First, they protect your fabric from any oils you might have on your skin as you are working and second, they allow you to roll up any excess fabric and tuck it inside the "huggie" keeping you work area easily accessible! Send me an e-mail if you are interested in ordering any huggies, I sell them pretty reasonable! You can read all about them and see the various fabric choices here: http://cowgirlfromhanna.multiply.com/photos/album/71/Q-snap_Huggies_for_Sale
Here's a huggie shown on an 8" x 8" frame!
So, that's what a q-snap is! Signing off from the Lazy w Ranch, Chris the Cowgirl from Hanna, Indiana
Due to popular demand, I have added frog fabric back into the q-snap huggie lineup! I have plenty of "OH NO MORE FROGS" fabric for anyone who is in need of huggies, as well as many other fabric designs! All designs and pricing information can be seen here:

Stitching seems a little anti-climatic after finishing the soldier memorial, but I'm going to start a Christmas Stocking project by Joan Elliott later this afternoon, We'll be watching the Bears in the playoff game, so seems like a good time to get started on it. I picked a pretty piece of dusky evening looking fabric for this stocking and will also use it for the 2nd Joan Elliott that I will start when this is done! Yes, it looks like another year of Joan Elliott for me!!
I'm going to start "Santa's Coming" this afternoon,
and then "The Angel" which I have been dying to stitch since the moment the magazine arrived in my mailbox last summer! They are both going on the dusky twilight looking fabric that I picked up from Enchanted Fabrics before she went out of business (~CRY~) and they are both gifts for my neighbors. I gave them a packet with several pattern choices inside as a gift for Christmas and let them pick the stocking they liked the best! Hopefully they'll have them in time to hang by the fireplace for Christmas 2011!
I stitched this little cock a doodle do up from a Prairie Schooler ornament leaflet I have, to hang in my kitchen! I have collected and decorated my kitchen with sunflowers things for many years and this past Christmas was given a neat set of mugs with sunflowers AND roosters on them, so a new collection has begun!
I even made some new rooster curtains!
On that note...it's time for me to sign off and watch some Bear Football! I hope you all have a very stitchy day, until the next time, signing off from the lazy w ranch, Chris the Cowgirl in Hanna, Indiana!
I put the last stitches in it tonight (oh those wings) Once I got to the backstitching I remembered why I said I would never stitch this project again, but sort of like childbirth, the two and a half year interval made me forget the pain! Outlining the wings is very INTENSE! But, it's done and now I need to take it off to the frame shop and then contact Daane's mom to arrange a meeting place so I can present it to her. It's a very strange feeling that I have when completing these memorials, I can't even put it into words, here at 2:30 am....SO, on that note, I am signing off, from the Lazy w Ranch, Chris, the tired Cowgirl, in Hanna, Indiana!
Yes...just about a week, late, but better late than never right?
I'm not really a resolution person, but I decided that this year,I was going to utilize my computer time wiser.... I am going to spend less time with internet games and more time chatting with the friends I have made over the years. With that said, I deleted both FarmVille and CityVille from my Facebook profile! Now, those of you who know me through the game, know that this was a HUGE thing for me..lol..I was really addicted to both of them! Enough is enough....on with life!
I've been busy taking down decorations, and packing them away for next year, and in doing that, discovered that my basement REALLY needed to be organized...so, one big trip to Goodwill later, I see progress! We had things that were still packed from when I moved here 7 years ago, so I think it's safe to say I will NOT be needing them! Having combined two complete homes, we had lots and lots of extra kitchen wares, small appliances, extra TV's, etc etc etc, the Goodwill store made out really great! I have one more load to take up to them one day next week, and then I can call the basement re-organization project a success!
And on the stitching front, I have been busy at work on my soldier memorial. Here is my updated photo from January 4th, but I have completed a lot more since then!
We're getting very close to calling this one a finish! I'll be anxious/excited to contact Daane's mom again and arrange the delivery of the final memorial.
OK, time to sign off for now, and will be seeing a lot more of you in 2011, now that I've completed the Betty Ford Clinic treatment program for Farmvillers....LOL
Signing off from the Lazy w Ranch, Chris the Cowgirl in Hanna, Indiana (haven't heard that for awhile have you?)
We were thankful to be close to home and INSIDE this Thanksgiving! It sleeted and the wind blew and it was just in general an "inside" day! After partaking of the turkey feast, I was able to enjoy some quality stitching time in my Lazy Girl Chair, making some progress on Cpl. Daane DeBoer's memorial:
I spent most of the day making the improvised verse fit into the correct spot and then went ahead and put his name and DOD on the bottom, which is a very sobering and heart wrenching thing for me...once the name is on, it becomes almost reverent to me, when I work on it. I know all of you that have stitched one of these memorials, know what I mean. It's almost too emotional sometimes, but my hope is that will bring a tiny piece of solace to his mother. The verse is from Isaiah 40:31 and was one of Daane's favorite passages.
I hope that all of my friends both near and far had a great Thanksgiving too!!! Signing off for now, from the Lazy w Ranch, Chris the Cowgirl from Hanna, Indiana!
So............ I decided it was time that I stitch another soldier memorial for the on line group that I belong to:
Cpl. Daane DeBoer grew up in Valparaiso, a city about 20 miles west of me, and I have followed his story in the paper since his death in Afghanistan in late June.
Yesterday morning I spoke on the phone with his mom Charlene and she said she would love a memorial, so I started it within an hour of hanging up the phone! It's a very small token of my appreciation for the great sacrifice she has made, her son died for our Freedom.
I chose "Freedom" by Stoney Creek as the project I'm going to stitch for Daane, substituting his favorite verse from Isaah 40:31, "Those who hope in the Lord, Shall mount up on the wings of eagles" Very appropriate for this memorial I believe.
I just realized that it was springtime the last time I blogged anything! I have no good excuses other than BUSY BUSY BUSY! My daughter Shannon and her boyfriend Jedd were here a few times this summer, and we were also busy with making hay and my big garden and and and.....time slips away and next thing you know it's October!
I've been keeping busy with the two latest Indian patterns from Joan Elliott! They will be a nice compliment to her two earlier Indian themed projects that I completed in 2009 and 2008!
I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying this little prelude to winter! Signing off for now, from the Lazy W Ranch, Chris the Cowgirl from Hanna, IN!
Me and Shannon on Labor Day

Some of my bounty from the garden!
Joan Elliott's "Harmony" Completed last month
Joan Elliott's "Peace" my current WIP
I put the final stitches in this weekend while we were having the Lord of the Rings marathon ...gosh I love to look at Viggo Mortensen...I could watch the movies over and over just for him alone! Anyway, it's done and the next one is started!
Now I have to get back out and finish the lawn mowing! Hope everyone is having a great Monday! Signing off from the Lazy w Ranch, Chris the cowgirl from Hanna, IN.
I really do not know where the time goes, but it sure goes! I have been keeping busy with the websites I do, since spring is the time of birth for all the baby donkeys, I stay pretty occupied for a few months working on those! Also I had a rash of q-snap orders at the beginning of the month, I sewed up over 50 huggies in a 10 day period! I was seeing them in my sleep!! But I do enjoy them and the extra mad money is great!
And, DH decided that my garden should be a little bigger this year (is he crazy?) so have been busy planning what is going where in the new nearly double sized patch...I think his goal is to have the entire north yard in garden eventually!
My stitching has been limited to an hour or so in the morning and an hour or so at night, but I am slowly making progress on my daughter in law's stocking! I actually have it a little further than this photo but was a bit too lazy to remove it from the frame for a new photo! HA! I am doing all the backstitching as I go, (those trees where a PITA!) so when I get to the top I am done! Yesterday I actually worked my way up to where the top will end and added the oval with her name inside, so the end is in site!
I'm getting there, slow but sure!
Now for the give away part...does anyone still use hoops to stitch with? I have 3 ten inch plastic hoops and 3 eight inch plastic hoops that have been sitting on a shelf since I discovered snaps, so if anyone would like to have them, drop me an e-mail at forevercowgirl@hughes.net and I'll draw a name from all that are interested!!
OK...DH tells me that it is now time to go mow at our rental property, so away we go! Please let me know if you need the hoops and the two little project boxes!
Take good care and have a great day! Signing off from the Lazy w Ranch, Chris the Cowgirl in Hanna, Indiana!
Today was really a run of the mill ordinary boring Monday...that is, UNTIL I went to the mailbox! There nestled in among the sale catalogs and bank statements was a familiar envelope from my LNS, The House of Stitches! Thinking to myself...hmmm..what did I order? I raced (ok... walked a little faster) back up the lane so I could see what was inside! What a pleasant surprise I had!! My friend and fellow Hoosier Rose Ann sent me a lovely birthday surprise from my favorite place---
WOW!! what a nice surprise!! THANKS so much RoseAnn! You made my whole day! I will really enjoy working on this one!!! THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart!!
Have I been stitching? Yes...I've been dutifully plugging away at my 2010 Christmas projects! Only a little over 9 months until Christmas! HA! I finished one stocking for my daughter's boyfriend Ryan and am currently working on my daughter in law Tammy's stocking. It's called Winter Scene and is in Donna Kooler's Ultimate Christmas Stockings 2 book....which has many awesome patterns for all of you stocking lovers out there! Here is my progress after a few weeks...it has lots of confetti stitching so sort of monotonous, but it's still a fun stitch!
Here's the new book it came from....I LOVE this book!! I have one for sale if anyone is interested...I got mine through AMAZON and it was a better deal to buy 2 and get the free shipping, so drop me a line if you are interested in this great book! $22.00 with shipping included will put it in your hands!
In other news, all is well on the Lazy w Ranch..tiny hints of green are peeking up through the pasture...a very good sign! I've been keeping REALLY busy sewing q-snap huggies, thanks to Nancy Murdock! She gave my information to a few stitcher in one of her on line groups and I have been sewing like crazy for that group! WOW! Thanks a million Nancy...watch your mailbox for a little thank you from me! I added a few new fabrics this morning with spring in mind, so drop me a line if you need any new huggies... forevercowgirl@hughes.net !!
I better stop rambling and go think about what I am cooking for dinner tonight! Nice to see all of you and thanks again Rose Ann!!! you made my day! Signing off from the Lazy w Ranch, Chris the cowgirl from Hanna, Indiana!
This is another Prairie Schooler done for my neighbors, Jim and John....
It's been snowing and snowing and snowing here!! We have been under a winter storm warning for the past several days and no sign of letting up for 12 more hours! YIKES! It's very pretty outside though, until you have to go somewhere....LOL
Hope everyone is staying warm!! Signing off from the very snowy Lazy w Ranch, Chris the Cowgirl!
